Best of Times, Worst of Times
By Nolen
It was the best of times it was the worst of times, my elementary school days. Which one was it you ask? Well in Kindergarten…
Kindergarten was probably the best time I have ever had in elementary school. We had a very nice teacher, we had no homework and all we did in class was play with toys and practice writing letters with dry erase markers ☺
First grade we had a nice teacher, but in school class was boring and dull. We had a little more homework than kindergarten but I wasn't used to so much of it so I sort of overloaded. That was not a good year.
2nd grade was OK I guess, we had a very, very nice teacher but we had at least a third more homework then first grade. But in class we did lots of fun stuff like watching plants grow in see through pots.
In third grade we had a very strict teacher, we had a lot of homework, and we had a ton of homework. That year was not my best year.
In fourth grade we had a very nice teacher, but we had a ton of homework, and by that I mean a ton, but we did do a ton of fun stuff to, so that sort of makes up for it. That was an average year for me.
In 5th grade I probably had the second best time of my life. I had the nicest teacher in the world, but we probably had twice as much homework as 4th grade. We also did about three times as much fun stuff as we did homework. That, that year was a very, very, very, very, very good year.
Well, now that you know what to expect from higher grade levels, I hope to see you having your best of times, or you're worst of times. Good luck!

Best of…worst of…
My best times were happy years, not hard, not easy, but monumental. Times of fun and prosperity, like a field day or a snow day, nothing could hold me down. Times of field trips, rockets, friends, or excitement. It's like ice cream on a hot day. Times like the smell of sweet grass when walking to school. Making a friend on the first day of school. The smell of school at the end of Friday. Having no homework so you may play with friends. The end of the school year. A day with extra recess and perfect weather. It was my best of times.
And with all good times, there are bad times. Times of embarrassment, sorrow, forgetfulness, and Burdon. Being mocked when everyone is watching, Forgetting homework and being laughed at, or even losing a friend. It is sad, but it is the cost of happiness. It was my best of times; it was my worst of times. My elementary school years.

I loved it, I hated it, it felt like a lifetime, it was elementary school. The biggest event in my life was elementary school. I met all of my friends here, and learned some cool things, and I am going to leave soon.
Elementary school is hard, but one word that I could not live without…recess! Recess helps a lot in school, I would die without it.

Things aren't always going to go your way. Bad things can happen, and good things can happen. This happens a lot in school.
On kindergarten, I was having fun. ☺ I made lots of new friends.
In First grade, it was a bore. ☹ I can't remember anything that I learned in first grade.
On second grade, I was having a blast! ☺ I remember making lot's of cool comics like Once the alien and robots. I also made lots of new friends.
In third grade, I was down in the dumps. ☹ I don't know why. I guess I was a little depressed.
In fourth grade, it was o.k. :| I was having fun, but I got in trouble a lot.
And on fifth grade, I was on top of the world! ☺ I had the coolest teacher ever, I made new friends, I did cool experiments, the murder mystery, and origami!
I made new friends, I made new enemies. I met old friends, I met old enemies. I met some cool teachers (Mr. G), and some not-so-cool teachers.
Elementary school has changed my life!
It was the best of times; it was the worst of times.

Best of Times, Worst of Times
I know everyone that has gone or is in Elementary School has had good times and bad times. It's the same with me. My years at Woodbrook were awesome! Things change and I change over the years, but I still love these parts in the years.
My teachers at Woodbrook were overall excellent. Some I didn't like and some to this day I still don't understand. Fifth grade teachers were my favorite. Not only were my teachers excellent, but so were my friends. I couldn't get through the years without Elizabeth Baber and Maddie Williamson. My friends and some teachers were what pulled me through my years.
Elementary years were great. There were laughs, field trips, and lots of things to learn. I loved the fun and easy things in Kindergarten, but I love the fun and complicated things in fifth grade. Not everything was glamorous though. Bad things occurred. Like embarrassing moments, sad moments, and even moments when I got in trouble. Even though I've had bad times the good times fill me with love for this, soon to be old news, place.
I feel happy, sad, and really weird about going to middle school. Happy comes to mind because I'm excited about getting better lunch food and moving up to a bigger school. Yet sadness comes because I've been at Woodbrook for 6 years and it's hard to say goodbye. I feel weird because I don't know how Jack Jouett works and the schedule. Most of all though it's exciting to meet new people and have fun!
Everything at Jouett is amazing. The food, the teachers, and the students. But I'll remember a lot of things about Woodbrook , like my friends. Most of all I'll miss the joy that spreads around the school. Hopefully it will be the same at Jouett.

My Elementary years
From Mrs. Bernard to Mr. Gissendanner my school life has been filled with good and bad. My school years have been mostly move, move, and move. I have had good and bad memories since Kindergarten.
There was so much to learn bad and good. So much to do interesting and dull. So much to see, beautiful and ugly. So many friends, mean and nice.
School years have been great and not so great. School life is hard, but when a door closes another one opens. It was the best of times. It was the worst of times.

Elementary School Years

Kindergarten:
In kindergarten I went to Cale Elementary so it was very different. All I remember is getting lost on the first day of school. All of the hallways looked exactly the same to me. Another thing that I remember are the older kids. I especially remember the big, smelly fifth graders.
First Grade:
In first grade I came to Woodbrook. It was scary because everybody already knew each other and I didn't know anyone. This was the year I made friends with Devyn and Madeline. I met Devyn on the bus and I met Madeline at after-school.
Second Grade:
In second grade I remember having to start homework. We had to do DOL in the morning and journal right after that. This was the year that I learned to write.
Third Grade:
In third grade I remember having Mrs. Fitzgerald. She was the best teacher in the whole wide world. I remember when she retired at the end of the year. She gave out some of her books. She gave us each six books!
Fourth Grade:
In fourth grade I remember keyboarding with Mrs. Elsie. I also remember a project that we did on different countries of the world. At the end of the year I was so proud of myself because I had gotten all A+ on every Spelling test that we had.
Fifth Grade:
In fifth grade, at the beginning of the year, I remember that I used to think that the teachers were so evil. I also remember the Do Nows that we did in Virginia Studies.

The Best Of Times Worst Of Times
Aw, as I look back at all the years of elementary school I've hade some good times and a lot of bad time, as much as I'd like to think that's true it not.
I've liked almost all my years at school, I liked 1st grade 2nd grade 3rd grade and 5th grade.1st grade was amazing because the teacher was great she let us play football in class, let us have water balloon, and squirt gun fights! I liked 2nd grade because that was the year I was in Thailand that was fun in many different ways. 3rd was great because the teacher was so fun I also had great friends. While 5th grade was hard it was fun to. I had some fun teachers but they also were hard on us. I had some close friends and I made it through the year.
My worst year was 4th grade because I was new to the school and I hated the teacher. That's all I can say other then I didn't like all the homework over the years.
I guess what I am saying is that I have kind liked all my elementary school year, but other then this you'll never get me to admit it.

It was the best of times
It was the worst of times
My Woodbrook years, days, hours, minutes, and seconds have been a great experience for me. Along the way I have met some people that have helped me in at least one way at become a better person. When I first walked in the Woodbrook doors at age 5, I wasn't sure that I was going to make it but now I feel on top of the world now that its over.
During my years at Woodbrook I have had great times. Times like eating pancakes and popcorn on the 100th day of school, making my first ever friend chase in kindergarten. When I made my first friend I felt motivated to become an outgoing person. There are so many positive things at woodbrook but there are also some negatives in my book.
During my 6 years at Woodbrook there has been some negative times. Sitting out for recess, and bad grades. My worst year at woodbrook was 5th grade. The teachers put the responsibility on you to get you homework and class work done. When you don't do what your supposed to do there are consequences. Consequences like sitting out for recess, homework letters, but the most dreadful thing of them all is calling your parents.
Although Woodbrook has been a great deal in my life, I think its time to move on. From day 1 Woodbrook has gotten me ready for each and every grade or obstacles that were in front of me. Woodbrook, it was the best of times; it was the worst of times.

They were the best of times; they were the worst of times, my Elementary School Years.
There are times that are the best of times in life; these are those days for life. Well, one of those times was the first day of school. I was pretty excited. Another good thing was when we went to Luray Caverns. It was so cool, I just wanted to stay and see the stalagmites, stalactites, the organ, and the ghosts! One time I missed the mile because I was sick. Oh yeah, I think when I felt a little better, my dad took me to school the next day and everyone was saying " You are so lucky" or something like that. Although I could be wrong. Oh, here's a good one, the first day of fifth grade. The best part was either no homework or the peanut butter and jelly experiment. Hold on, I'm not quite done yet. This one is when I was in kindergarten and we read books in a loft. Oh that old loft was so amazing, we got to relax on pillows and read with each other. There was also a play kitchen underneath it, how cool is that! Speaking of kindergarten, we always got to play with toys. They were great, there were building blocks and Lego type toys, but they were bigger. They were defiantly my favorite. In forth grade it was so much fun to read to my book buddy. We had to wake them up from their nap. It was so cute. Although they were sometimes hard to deal with sometimes, but not mine.
As everybody knows, life is not always good. There is also bad. What of my bad times was when I had to sit out at recess in fifth grade for not having my homework. That is torture, you have to not play at recess and watch the other people who are playing around there. Oh dear, I had to sit at the brown table at lunch, most likely because I was messing around. You have to sit at a different table than all of or friends and you can't talk! Now I was really mad because my friend and I were making this origami project and we messed up so we could not go any farther. We spent all that time on it for nothing! I hate doing badly on tests, but I got a horrible grade on a word study test all because I didn't study. I made a bad choice to not study and I paid the price. I learned from my mistake. Ok, I admit that I procrastinate a lot. There were four projects we had to do and I waited tell the last day to do them; my whole day was wasted all because of that. It was pretty bad.
Now you know my ups and downs in life, although I live through them every weekday of my elementary school years.

Best, Worst, School
It was wonderful! It was horrible! It was elementary school! Elementary school was interesting. I started in kindergarten and worked my way through 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th,and 5th grade. It was a bumpy ride to get where I am now, but it was well worth the effort!
My favorite years were k-3 for one reason. They were easy! ☺ I had very little homework and really easy work. In 1st Grade I read my first book, Hop On POP. I was really happy when I got halfway through. Then I got really annoyed because I couldn't read the page about some guy named red. The ironic thing is that I could read harder words like, because and hello. :|
I'm also having great fun with the fifth grade murder mystery. I think the clues are leading up Vera. Anyway I also loved the jump rope assembly yesterday. They turned off the lights and a guy jumped with a glowing rope! Speaking of assemblies, we had one where they brought a real kangaroo! ^^
Even thought most of the time it was a blast, there were also some bad times. ☹ I really got depressed when I got a bad grades and not getting a chance to edit.
I know next year I will do better. Another bad time was when I was forced to read the worst book ever, a taste of blackberries. It was so stupid, the story was about some guy who died and his best friend gets real depressed.
There were good times. There were bad times. But in the end its just elementary school.

It was the best of times it was the worst of times my elementary school years.
My best years were K-4 because they were easy. My elementary school years were not the best or the worst of times but mild. Elementary school years you should remember because I say they are not the best of times or the
Worst of times, just mild.
I have to say the point of elementary school was not for it to be fun but for you to learn and to make some friends so you get ready for middle school. Some of my favorite teachers were Mr. G, Mr. Magee, and Mrs. Baber. Mrs. Jasper was an ok teacher she just was not mean or nice. I liked Mrs. Baber's class because she made everything fun, which is also the same with Mr. G, But of all my elementary school years were, the best of times and the worst of times.

Things are good and bad in life. The same may be said about school. I've had an awesome school experience! Despite the bad times that I've had, elementary school is a building block for success.
Here I want to highlight my good times. Mr. Gissendanner and Ms. Webb are the best teachers a kid could have! I really liked the filed trips! I've also made new friends and had some great experiences. I think everyone has!
But, I have not had all good times. I am talking about the bad! I've met some people who weren't so nice. I don't like homework letters or going to the office either. I have had some times in elementary school that I'd like to remember and some that I'd like to forget! I have moved from a school in South Carolina to Woodbrook, and I've liked them both. Elementary school has taught me a lot, and has gotten me ready for life! I am going to miss elementary school, but since I am going to middle school I feel on top of the world!
It was the best of times; it was the worst of times.

It was the best of times; it was the worst of times. From day one at Woodbrook with Ms. Kim Cousins, to day 720 with Mr. Steve Gissendanner, it has been a wonderful period of leaning.
I have had many ups in school. I couldn't make it through school without my trusty friends. My 5th grade year has been a year of making many new friends. Another thing I couldn't do without is a student's favorite word… recess! The projects and experiments of school always help me understand things. Just coming to school and seeing my friends always brightens me up and gets me ready to go.
Through the ups, there are also the downs. The homework load increasing, it helps me for middle school, but I still don't care for it! The Sols are not in my favor either, but you know, you really have to do them.
Through the ups and downs and corks and curls, it all comes out in the wash. It's all for the best. School is fun, a way of living and learning. Now, I am graduating and moving on to another step of learning.

Memories of Woodbrook
Dear Mr. G.
Thank you for teaching two days of family life. I thought that were going to take that class for the rest of the year. Some boys enjoyed that class. I think it was OK. I want to take family life again. We also came to your class for that brain thing. We got to touch human brains with gloves on. I liked the way it felt. I remember when your kids taught us origami. I want to learn how to make a 3D box with different colors so I can get dizzy. I want to join origami club so I can learn how to make that box. Your classroom is awesome. You have good ideas at Town Hall. I hope you make some more sport ideas. What grade are you going to teach next year?
This summer I am going to the beach for the whole summer. Virginia Beach is going to be fun. I went last Friday and came back on Monday. We played football on the beach. I found three shells and they were big. I also found seven small shells. I got in the ocean. I thought a jellyfish stung me on my foot. It was just a rock with sand all over.
